Holding Hands Behavioral Intervention Program is based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is the systematic application of validated behavioral techniques and data collection procedures that are empirically based to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968; Sulzer-Azaroff & Mayer, 1991). ABA uses positive behavior support to bring about positive changes. Behaviors refer to both actions and skills. ABA, not only looks to reduce problematic behaviors, but also aims at developing new skills and more functional behaviors to foster the child’s independence
Our clinical team consists of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA’s), Board Certified Associate Behaviorist Analysts (BCABA’s), as well as, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate level therapist with clinical training in Applied Behavior Analysis. What makes our program unique from other behavioral programs is the fact that our Behavior Interventionists (BI’s) are not only trained to assess and treat observable behaviors and build needed skills, they are also trained to examine how the child’s biological differences (auditory, proprioceptive, visual, tactile, olfactory, vestibular, and motor planning) and developmental stage may be impacting behavior. The client’s developmental functioning is highly considered when developing their behavior support program. Behavior support is available in the school and home settings. In the school setting, one-to-one support is provided in the classroom environment to teach and support school readiness and social skills. In the home and community setting, the behavior program focuses on reducing problem behaviors and increasing self-help skills.A crucial component of our program is parent involvement. Our clinicians aim to build a trusting, therapeutic alliance with the entire family to guide, educate, model, and empower them to successfully apply behavioral management techniques in the home and community
As a Non-Public Certified Agency (NPA) with the State of California, we provide Behavior Intervention services through School District Funding (IEP), Regional Centers, Insurances, and private pay.
